    1. Both parties agree to an academic exchange in various area of education and research.
    2. Both parties will make an effort to exchange professors, researchers, administrative and professional personnel and students, and also exchange research materials and publications.
    3. Both parties will make an effort to promote the exchange but will respect the independence of opinion to their mutual benefits. Specific details on the implementation of particular exchanges noted above and results from the agreement shall be negotiated between the two institutions subject to approval by each institution.
    4.This Agreement will remain effective for five years from the date of signing. It may be renewed by mutual consent, if proposed by either party.
    
5. This Agreement may be amended or terminated by mutual consent, if proposed by either party, by giving at least six months notice in writing to the other party.
    6.This Agreement is written in English and signed in duplicate by both parties. It may be translated into other languages for reference purpose.

    Number of Exchange Students
    - Each party will normally accept up to a maximum of
    2 students under this Agreement yearly. This number can be modified, if necessary, based on the discussion between both the parties.
    
    Selection of Exchange Students
    - The home university will normally recommend most suitable students to the host university based on language ability and academic excellence.
    
    Enrollment of Exchange Students
    (a) Students of Kumamoto University will register as Prince of Songkla University exchange students and can attend lectures, seminars and tutorials. Graduate students can also attend research projects.
    (b) Students of Prince of Songkla University will register as Kumamoto University exchange students and can attend lectures, seminars and tutorials. Graduate students can also attend research projects.
    (c) Participating students will be subjected to the regulations of the host university.

    Article 1 Entrance Examination & Enrollment
    1. Both universities shall give entrance examinations to the students separately.
     2. Each university shall independently make decision to accept the students.
     3. The Program shall provide joint supervision on study and research of the students.
     4. The entrance examination fee shall be paid to both universities. The enrollment fee and tuition fee shall be paid only to the home university.
    Article 2 Required Period & Student's Status
    1. Students shall spend at least one year in the host university in principle, and be recognized and receive benefits as a regular full-time student of both universities.
     2. Student's home university shall approve the extension of enrollment, if necessary.
    
Article 3 Acceptable Students Number
    Each university will accept up to a maximum of two students yearly under this agreement. However, more than two students may be accepted, if necessary, based on the discussion between both universities. The number of students in this double degree program is counted separately from the number slot designated under the "Student Exchange Agreement between Kumamoto University and Prince of Songkla University" concluded at University level.
    Article 4 Supervision & Accreditation of Credits
     1. Host university is responsible for providing supervision on study and research of the accepted student.
    2. Upon evaluation, credits earned from the host university are accepted as equivalent to the courses offered by the home university and the acceptance of credit transfer shall conform to the academic regulations of both universities.
    
Article 5 Doctoral Thesis Review &
2) Degree Awarded
    1. Doctoral thesis review shall be held separately by each university.
    2. The home university shall award a doctoral degree when the student has fulfilled the requirements of the home university. The host university shall award another doctoral degree when the student has fulfilled the requirements of the host university.
    3. Both universities together shall award one completion certificate of the double degree program at the point that both degrees have been awarded. However, the completion.
    certificate will not be awarded in the case that the students fail to receive the degree by either university.
    Article 6 Regulations
    Regulations regarding the entrance examination, credit accreditation, organization of an advisory committee, and confirmation of a degree shall be decided by each university and subjected to mutual consent.
    
Article 7 Responsible Faculty Person for Contact and Coordination
    Each university shall designate a contact faculty person who will be responsible for communication between both universities and for coordination of this double degree program.
    Article 8 Effect of Agreement
    This Agreement shall take effect from the day this document is signed by the representatives of both universities, and remain in effect while the Student Exchange Agreement is valid. It may be renewed by mutual consent, if proposed by either university. A review shall be conducted at every extension of the Student Exchange Agreement.
    
Article 9 Amendment & Termination of Agreement
    This Agreement may be amended or terminated by mutual consent, if proposed by either university, by giving at least six months notice in writing to the other university, However students already admitted to and participating in the program must be allowed to complete the program.
     This Agreement is written in English and signed in duplicate by both universities. It may be translated into other languages for reference purposes.
